6ark1 Media - Delivering beyond expectations

About

Hi, I am Muhammad Usman Barki and I am a freelance graphic designer / web developer from Brighton, England.

I specialise in website user interface design and development, print media design, content management systems’ integration and Search Engine Optimisation. I have an honours degree in Internet Business Computing from the University of Brighton and have been doing this freelance work for a few years now.

On every project that I take on, I specifically make sure that the end product is clean, usable & professional, and SEO friendly and that best practices have been put in while meeting the latest web and print standards.

I offer grid-based web designs, XHTML / CSS & Ajax coded frameworks, CMS Integration, web / email marketing, brand & identity development, brochure & flyer designs, Search Engine Optimisation, and copywriting & content management.

For carrying out the web design and development work, I use Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver. For print media, my line of choice includes InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. For CMS, my only choice is WordPress because of flexible and robust nature. For online shops, it’s usually osCommerce or Magento. If it’s not WordPress or osCommerce, etc then it has to be a bespoke Content Management System built using PHP coupled with MySQL.

Graphics design and web development has been my passion since 1999, and I have always loved what I did. It was only till recently that I decided to take my passion a step further – to a professional level. My degree helped me communicate and understand the requirements of clients better and put me in a much better position to recommend user friendly and productive solutions based on the technical knowledge I gained through my education.

Currently, I am working as an IT & Business Systems Analyst at an IT & Billings Consultancy Firm based in Brighton where my work mainly involves documenting technical, business and process requirements, supervising and coordinating on website and web application development projects.

When I’m not on my usual 9 – 5 office job or working freelance over the weekends, I tend to socialise with friends and family. I don’t drink but do enjoy a chilled pint or 2 of coke. I like eating out and watching movies in cinema. My favourite book is Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts; not that I have read many and looking forward to its sequel and the movie based on it.

For those wishing to know more about me or are interested in the kind of projects I’ve been involved in, please feel free to drop me an email or join me on LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitter.
